Ireland Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams have retained their Division “A” status by finishing 6th at the recent Euroepan Championships in Amsterdam, Holland.
Men’s coach Craig Fulton reflected, “A lot of depth used which is the most important thing we could have done. With a year to go to the World Cup, it’s the perfect place to be. Looking at the options, the players are getting confident at this level and so we just need to put a smart programme in place for 2018.”
Women’s coach Grahan Shaw was dissapointed with his sides overall performance but said, “its not for the lack of effort or preparation – we never really gave ourselves the platform to work from, we will have to look within to see whats gone wrong”.
However both teams finished in the top 6 of a very competitive European Championship.
