Women’s boxing success

Clare Grace has won at least a bronze medal in the 69kg category at the European Boxing Championships in Bucharest after defeating Turkey’s Kara Gulazar on points.

She will next box on Friday in the semi-final against Britain’s Stacy Copeland.

Grace is only the second Irish woman after Katie Taylor to win a European Championship medal in boxing.

Olympic gold medallist Katie Taylor will be in quarter-final action on Wednesday while Michaela Walsh, Ceira Smith and Joanne Lambe will fight at the last 16 stage tomorrow.
