Team Ireland will have 5 boxers in Beijing

John Joe Nevin made it 2 in Pescara, Italy last month, and now John Joe Joyce, Darren Sutherland ,and Kenneth Egan have qualified in Athens today.
Only 1 boxer qualified for Athens 2004, and the fact that 5 have now qualified is a step change within the Boxing programme. Dermot Henihan ,Chef de Mission for Beijing, was in Athens with the team and congratulated the athletes and support staff on their outstanding achievement. Now that qualification is achieved the focus is now on preparing to perform in the 2008 Beijing Games.
