World Rowing U23 Championships

The World Rowing U23 Championships in Belarus brought reward after year’s hard work to four athletes and their coaches.

The crew of Justin Ryan (Skibbereen RC), Mark O Donovan (Skibbereen RC), Michael Maher (Commercial RC) and Niall Kenny (NUIG BC) (pictured left to right) finished just one second behind Germany, beating the British for the Silver medal – Ireland’s first u23 medal since 2003.

Three other crews featured at the event. A lightweight womens double (8th), a lightweight men’s pair (10th) and a women’s single scull (9th). All crews are new to the senior International scene and all looking to build on this year’s performances going forward.
