Doyle Qualifies for 50m Breaststroke Final at World University Games

Fiona Doyle will contest her second final of the World University Games in Kazan, Russia following a third place finish in her 50m Breaststroke semi-final.
Doyle, who won a Silver medal in the 100m Breaststroke on Friday last, will enter tomorrow’s Final as the 5th fastest qualifier in a time of 31.44, .3 of a second faster than her heats swim of 31.76 earlier this morning. The University of Calgary student’s best time is 31.35.
100m and 200m Breaststroke Gold medallist at the Games, Russia’s Iulia Efimova, was the fastest qualifier from the semi-final this afternoon in 30.72.
Andrew Meegan will be back in the pool tomorrow for the final day of swimming at the World University Games, he will compete in the heats of the 400m Individual Medley. Meegan has so far broken four Irish Records at the Games.
Starting tomorrow, six Irish swimmers will also begin their campaign at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht, Holland. The team of Niamh Kilgallon (Claremorris SC), Emma Reid (Ards SC), Morgan Berryman (City of Belfast SC), Rachel Bethel (Lisburn City SC), James Brown (Ards ASC) and Benjamin Doyle (Aer Lingus SC) will represent Ireland over four days of competition at the Swimming Pool De Krommerijn
