BIOGRAPHY
Thomas “Thos” Foley represented Ireland in the men’s giant slalom at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, finishing 31st – becoming the first athlete from Co. Kerry to compete at the Winter Games.
From Kenmare, Foley lived and trained in Verbier, Switzerland, and was affiliated with the Ski Club of Ireland at Kilternan. He first raced internationally at the 1999 British Championships, which were held in France due to the absence of a suitable venue in Great Britain, and his best competitive result before Turin was second place at the Scottish Championships Giant Slalom in Méribel in 2004.
