MEDIA ACCREDITATION FOR LA2028

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is now accepting expressions of interest for press accreditation to the LA 2028 Olympic Games. This initial step is new, but it is a crucial step for any journalists or photographers who are interested in covering the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.

Irish press and non‑rights‑holding broadcast media outlets are invited to submit expressions of interest for these accreditation categories through the IOC’s portal by 23 October 2026.

Each organisation should submit one expression of interest form. Late submissions cannot be considered.

Note that later in September, the monthly media briefing will explain this process in more detail, as well as include an overview of LA, Team Ireland, and information about key qualification dates.

As Ireland has a limited allocation of accreditations, selection criteria will apply. The process is managed by the IOC in consultation with the Olympic Federation of Ireland, with consideration given to an outlet’s national reach, readership or audience size, and previous experience covering Olympic Games. Successful applicants will be notified later this year.

The key dates for consideration by members of the media who are interested in covering the LA2028 Olympic Games are as follows:

31 August – 23 October 2026 – Members seeking accreditation register on the PORTAL.

30 March 2027 – Deadline for Press Accommodation requests

1 November 2027 – 18 February 2028 – Press by Name application

May 2028 – Pre-Validation Accreditation Cards are issued.

Further information and media resources on the accreditation process are available through the IOC’s media portal at THIS LINK, and we encourage all media to be familiar with this information. It includes information about each of the accreditation categories.
