A Good Day For the McMahons

Christine McMahon (Co Antrim) has won a silver medal on the track in Tampere today

Competing in the girls’ 400m hurdles, she came second behind Vera Rudakova of Russia who set a new championship record of 58.01

In winning silver, mcmahon broke 60 seconds for the first time in her career, coming home in 59.55

Meanwhile Sycerika McMahon has won her third medal in the pool.  She came third in the girls’ 400m individual medley, clocking a time of 4:53.15, just 1/100th away from silver medalist Carlotta Toni of Italy

The race was won by Spain’s Cristina Garcia in a time of 4:50.06

Ireland’s medal tally now stands at six medals, comprising one gold (Ciara Mageean), three silver (Sycerika McMahon, Shane Quinn, Christine McMahon)  and two
bronze (Sycerika McMahon x2)
