A minute’s silence in memory of all those who suffered loss during the Great Famine – 12th May

The Olympic Council of Ireland fully supports the Governments decision of the inaugurate of an annual National Famine Commemoration Day in memory of all those who died and emigrated during the Great Famine.  This years commemoration will take place in Kilrush, Co. Clare on Sunday 12th May in the presence of President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgings.

 

All public and sporting organisations are invited to observe a minute’s silence at events taking place on 12th May.

 

We invite you to observe a minute of silent reflection at all sporting and public events taking place on Sunday 12th May in memory of all those who suffered loss during the Famine – loss of life, loss of family, loss of home and loss of country.
