Malmo European Eventing Championship

Clare Abbott and Euro Prince (Owned by Dr Cormac McKay & Dr John McKay) have been drafted into the squad for the European Eventing Championships in Malmo Sweden from August 29th to Sept 1st.

The combination has been called up to replace Aoife Clark and Master Crusoe.

Ireland’s Eventing High Performance Manager Nick Turner explained: “As previously outlined, Master Crusoe had been suffering from a foot abscess. While he is now almost over the problem the timeframe to get the horse properly fit for the Championships is just too tight.

“Obviously it is a blow to lose such a brilliant combination, however it provides a great opportunity for Clare and Euro Prince who are a very exciting up and coming combination,” he said.

Nick Turner also confirmed Michael Ryan with Tom and Carol Henry’s Ballylynch Skyport as the reserve combination.

The squad in full is:
Clare Abbott/Euro Prince (owned by Dr Cormac McKay & Dr John McKay)

Sarah Ennis/Sugar Brown Babe (owned by Miriam Cunning)

Joseph Murphy/Electric Cruise (owned by Noel Good & Jill Andrews & Annette O’Callaghan & Michelle Nelson) or Sportsfield Othello (owned by Jill Andrews & FFS Syndicate)

Austin O Connor/Ringwood Mississippi (owned by Kate Jarvey)

Elizabeth Power/September Bliss (owned by Margaret Power & Robert Power)

Sam Watson/Horseware Bushman (owned by John Watson, Julia Watson & Tom MacGuinness)

Reserve: Michael Ryan/Ballylynch Skyport (owned by Tom and Carol Henry & Sheila Foley)
