Prevention of Competition Manipulation

Keeping Sport Fair

Competition manipulation — also known as “match-fixing” — occurs when the expected outcome of a sporting event is influenced or predetermined, undermining the fairness, unpredictability, and spirit of competition.

The OFI is committed to protecting all athletes and events from this threat and has adopted the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions

Through a set of harmonised rules, education, monitoring systems, and investigative measures, the IOC works to detect, prevent, and respond to any attempts to compromise the integrity of sport.

IOC Reporting Hotline

The IOC has a special hotline for reporting suspicious approaches or activities related to competition manipulation, incidents of harassment and/or abuse; or any other infringements of the IOC Code of Ethics or other matters including financial misconduct or further legal, regulatory and ethical breaches over which the IOC has jurisdiction. Confidentiality is guaranteed.
