ACCBank announce sponsorship of Irish Olympic Team

The new agreement was announced earlier today, Wednesday 5 March, at Grand Canal Square in the Dublin Docklands. Members of the Irish Olympic team , 50km walker, Jamie Costin, and sailor, Tim Goodbody, were present at the announcement, along with Pat Hickey, President of the Olympic Council of Ireland and ACCBank General Manager, Eddie Kingston.

Commenting on the new sponsorship, ACCBank General Manager for Strategy, Eddie Kingston, said ACCBank was very proud to be supporting the Irish Olympic Team at the 2008 Summer Games. “The Olympics are always an exciting time for any country, and on behalf of ACCBank, I am delighted to be announcing our support of the Irish Team.”

“As the official financial services sponsor to the team, the sponsorship matches our strategic and commercial objectives. We wish to associate with sponsorships that have a local and an international dimension, mirroring our organisation as a local player with global reach through our parent company, Rabobank. I would like to wish my very best to each member of the Irish Olympic Team, all of whom are preparing hard at the moment for the Games. I’m sure they will give it their all between now and August in order to do themselves and Ireland proud”, commented Mr. Kingston.

Speaking on behalf of the Olympic Council, Pat Hickey said that a 50-strong Irish team was expected to compete for Olympic glory in at least 10 sports disciplines in Beijing.
“The competition will be fierce but I am confident that the cream of Ireland’s athletic talent will perform well at the world’s most important sporting event. In particular, the Irish team’s preparations will benefit from the vital financial sponsorship supplied by our partner ACCBank, whose support and input are very welcome”, he said.
