Ames and Sloan declare for England

The Irish Hockey Association have been formally notified that Senior International players David Ames (pictured)  and Ian Sloan have declared to play for England & Great Britain and as result have withdrawn themselves from selection for the Ireland Senior Men’s Team.  Both players are currently based in England and have indicated that they foresee their future hockey careers and professional lives there.
Both players have written directly to the IHA Chief Executive, Mike Heskin, expressing their gratitude and thanks to Coaching , Management, Staff and fellow players whom they worked with during their time with Irish Hockey.
Under current FIH regulations, both players will have to take a three year international exclusion from the date of their last International match for Ireland on 11th April 2012.

The IHA said on their website that they ” are disappointed to lose both David & Ian but wish them both well in their future Hockey careers”
