There are currently 100 athlete spots confirmed for Team Ireland in Tokyo, the status of all the athletes can be found at THIS LINK.

The selection process for athletes for any Games is rigorous, and the full list of athletes who compete in any Games is usually not officially announced until close to the date of competition.

For the Olympic Games, the process of the selection of Team Ireland athletes is as follows:

1. The sport or athlete meets qualifying standard set out by the IOC
2. The sport or athlete meets qualifying standard set out by the National Federation
3. The National Federation nominates athletes for participation in the Olympic Games
4. The OFI selects athletes based on review of the nominations by National Federations
5. The athletes are informed on their selection.

The Olympic Federation of Ireland announces the teams in stages for senior Olympic Games, and for Youth Olympic Games and European Youth Olympic Festivals the team announcements are done in one go usually a week or two prior to competition.
