Alistair Cragg competed for Ireland at three Olympic Games, with his best result coming at Athens 2004 where he finished 12th in the final of the 5,000m.
Cragg grew up in South Africa and declared for Ireland ahead of the Athens Games, where he was the top European finisher in the 5,000m final.
One year later, Cragg won gold in the 3,000m at the European indoor championships - his career best result.
Between 2004 and 2011, Cragg set a series of Irish records across 3,000m, 5,000m and 10,000m.
Following his retirement, Cragg went in to coaching - he successfully coached Peter Lynch to a new Irish marathon record of 2:06:08 at the London Marathon in 2026.
