Pat Hickey, in his role as President European Olympic Committees , last night briefed National Federations and Sports Council officials on the background to the first European Games to be held on June of 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
He said ” The games will reflect the energy and unity of Europe and bring new and meaningful competitions to our athletes as well as bind the European NOCs together with one common goal”
Dermot Henihan Ireland’s Chef de Mission for Baku gave an overview of the Games and highlighted the opportunity for the 49 Nations, 19 sports, and 6,500 athletes.
He also provided details on the Baku qualification process, competition schedule, and the sports were Rio places are available.
