Australians share best practice with Olympic Council

It was an opportunity to find out how the backroom staff operate from a performance, media and logistical perspective. The Australians are at the start of a tour in which they will play a one day international with Ireland, a one day series with England and Pakistan.

The backroom team consist of Team Manager Steve Bernard, Coach Tim Neilson,Assistant coach Mark Sorell, Selector Merve Hughes, Strength and Conditioning coach Stuart Karpinen, Fielding coach Mike Young, Bowling coach Troy Cooling, Physio Alex Koutouris, Brant B Masseur, Mike Marshall Analyst, and Press Officer Philip Pope.

The Aussie officials were very open to exchange information on their preparation and management of overseas tours and share philosophies with the OCI in working with high performance athletes and staff in advance of the London 2012 Games.

The Australians officials were given an insight into what is currently happening in Irish Olympic sport and an update on systems and structures being developed to support high performance sport in Ireland.
