Badminton – 2014 US Open Grand Prix Gold

Scott Evans has continued his winning ways at the 2014 US open grand prix gold beating Ka Long Ng of Hong Kong in a match that lasted over an hour. The match went to the deciding game with Evans winning in setting.

Scott later posted “Delighted to get that win today. Close at the end”. Evans now meets number 16 seed Petr Koukal of Czech Republic, the game is scheduled to start after 21:30 Irish time.

Sam and Chloe Magee left the stadium with mixed emotions after progressing to the Last 16. The Magee’s were delighted after beating Evgenij Dremin and Evgenia Dimova of Russia who had won the mixed title at the White Knights event in their home country last week. Earlier in the day Chloe had lost out to Ying Chun Lin of Chines Taipei in three sets.

Sam with his brother Joshua lost to the French pairing Laurent Constantin and Matthieu Lo Ying Ping like the previous week in Canada.

“We now need to put the disappointment of the singles and doubles behind us and focus on our mixed. Nice win to start over the White Knight champions but there is other tough games ahead” Chloe Magee commented

The Magee’s now face local favourites Hock lai Lee and Eva lee of America at 19:00 Irish time
