Barnes defeated

Roy Sheehan, Michael Conlan and Joe Ward are just one win away from qualifying for the 2012 Olympics following last-32 victories at the AIBA World Championships and Olympic qualifiers in Baku, Azerbaijan but there was major disapointment when European light-welterweight champion Ray Moylette and Beijing Bronze medallist Paddy Barnes bowed out of the World Championships.

Moylette lost 19-7 to Indian 2010 Commonwealth champion Manoj Kumar and Belfast light-flyweight Paddy Barnes went out this morning ,beaten 20-12 by Mark Barriga of the Philippines.

Barnes would have been one of the favourites to contend again for a medal in Baku, but shipped too many scoring punches in the opening two rounds to fall 13-8 behind.
