Ireland's Olympic Bobsleigh coach Horst Hornlein will play a crucial role in his team's performance in Whistler.

Ireland's prospects of qualifying for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games were enhanced today after confirmation by FIBT that Aiofe Hoey's x2 bob will now be able to compete in the 2009/10 World Cup circuit.

Pat Shannon, Skeleton Bob, has become the 5th Irish athlete to receive an Olympic Scholarship to help him qualify and compete at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. For the first time in the history of Olympic Winter Games, some of the Vancouver hopefuls are recipients of individual scholarships from Olympic Solidarity to help cover their travel, training and coaching costs during the preparation and qualification process.
