Craig makes slalom semi

Hannah Craig has progressed to the semi-finals of Canoe Slalom, with a stunning second run that shaved just over eight seconds off her first time at the Lee Valley White Water Centre.

Craig was the first competitor to qualify from the opening round and did so in style, finishing in a time of 108.99 with just two penalties.

After a middling first run of 117.07, Craig sat in 14th place. The top 15 qualify for the semi-finals, leaving Craig with plenty to do in her second run.

The Antrim canoeist turned on the style with a much more confident run that was error free right up until the finish.

Craig picked up two late penalties at the tricky 19th gate but that wasn’t enough to deny her and she will have high hopes going into Thursday’s semi-final.
