Irelands Chloe Magee reached the quarter final of the Dutch Grand Prix with a three set win over England’s Elizabeth Cann in Eindhoven Thursday before losing in straight set against the tournament second seed and home favourite Ji Yao.
Earlier Thursday the Irish pair of Chloe and Sam Magee were outplayed by German world No9 pairs Fuchs and Michels going down 21-14, 21-15. A tough draw for the Irish pair.
Badminton Ireland Chief Executive Richard Vaughan commented ” It is another great result for Chloe against England’s number. Another good result in Holland means the Irish Open event in Lisburn will be an even more interesting event for Chloe as it could be the tournament that clarifies Chloe’s place for the London 2012 Olympic Games, a great achievement with five months of qualifying still remaining.”
