At the opening of the 43rd European Olympic Committees General Assembly held in Baku, Azerbaijan. President of the IOC Thomas Bach was awarded the “Order of Merit” the organisations highest distinction. He is the only IOC President to have won an Olympic gold medal.
Pat Hickey presented the award to President Bach in the presence of H.E. President Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan together with the First Lady at the Congress Centre of the Fairmont Hotel.
