European Bronze for Irish Curlers

Ireland just missed out on promotion to the European A division for the second year in succession when they lost to eventual Gold medallists Italy in the final shot of their semi final game. They did have some consolation for their consistent performances during the tournament, coming home with a well deserved bronze medal, defeating Slovakia 9-2 over after eight ends. Team member Bill Gray said ” we were clinical in the way we played to win the bronze match, but its no consolation for missing out on promotion to the A division. However we couldnt have come this far and had such good preparation without the support of the Olympic Council of Ireland through their Olympic Solidarity winter team sport programme”
