European Games Baku 2015 Chef de Missions Seminar

The Chef de Mission Seminar in Baku will conclude tonight with the official presentation of invitation to participate in the First European Games in Baku 2015.

Today we celebrate one year to go and all 49 National Olympic Committees are participating in this celebration.

Ireland can look forward to the European Games with a predicted team of between 50 and 70 athletes from 11 to 14 sports. It will be a great honour  to lead the first ever Irish European Games Team to Baku next June.

The Chef de Mission Seminar has provided us with a tremendous amount of information and preparations in Baku are at a very advanced stage.  I am very confident that Baku (BEGOC – the Organising Committee) will deliver a superb First European Games .

In October we will organised a Meeting with representatives of the Sports that have qualified athletes and those with a high possibility of qualifying athletes. We will commence gathering essential information at that meeting (notice will be sent out in September) and from there we will drive the organisation, performance and motivation for our team.

We will watch the progress of qualification carefully in each sport and we will hopefully see the team grow rapidly. There is a lot for all of us to do in the next year and your co-operation will be most appreciated.

Good luck to all with their endeavours toward European Games Qualification.

Dermot Henihan

Chef de Mission
