Evans and Magee through

Badminton Ireland had another good day at the World Badminton Championships in Wembley Arena, acting as the London 2012 test event this week.

Scott Evans defeated Michael Lahnsteiner of Austria in the morning in straight sets 21/15; 21/16. His reward is a meeting with the Chinese superstar and current Olympic champion, Lin Dan (seeded two) in the second round.

Chloe & Sam Magee were pushed all the way in their first round match in the Mixed Doubles. However, they achieved their second win at the championships when they overcame French pair on Baptiste Careme & Laura Choinet 18/21; 22/20; 21/19.

Again, they have been handed a huge challenge in the second round as they will face number two seeds Tantowi Ahmad & Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia.

Also in second round action on Wednesday is Chloe Magee against number six seed Saina Nehwal of India. While her brother Sam, partnered by Tony Stephenson, will face more Chinese opposition in the form of the number 11 seeds Chai & Guo.
