After a very successful year winning the Brazil Grand Prix and reaching the finals of the Bitburger Open Grand Prix gold event in Germany combined with his best result to date, reaching the last 16 on a world premier super series event at this year’s All England Open Championships Scott Evans has broken into the top 25 of the world rankings.
Badminton Ireland are delighted to announce and congradulate Scott on reaching 24 in the world rankings.
Team Ireland Badminton has had a number of players competing around the globe, in a number of countries in the past few months.Latest results from last week include Chloe Magee making the last 16 of the Swiss Open grand prix gold event, before losing out to number eight seed Busanan Ongbumrungpan of Thailand.
At Romanian International that was also played last week, Sinead Chambers made it to the last 16 of the mixed doubles with her brother Ciaran and to the quarter final of the doubles with her partner Jordan Hart from Wales. In the quarter final Sinead and Jordan lost out to the number one seeded pairing of Cemre Fere and Ebru Tunali of Turkey.
The Irish players have a busy schedule in front of them with players travelling to a number of different countries in the coming months. First up will be Rachael Darragh and Sara Boyle who will compete in the 2015 Polish Open this week in Arlamow.
Scott Evans will compete again at the end of May at the Malaysian Open followed by the Singapore Open in April.
The Chambers will also be back in action in April as they set their sights towards Zagreb as they hope to compete in the 2015 Croatian Open.
The Magee’s are now going into a training period before they compete at the Australian and Indonesian Open’s. These events are in the lead up to the new European games event that is set to be held in Baku Azerbaijan.
Joshua Magee will hope to be back on-court in June for the European games as he aims to qualify alongside his brother Sam in the men’s doubles event.
