Action in the pool got underway this morning, with Irish swimmers Mary Kate McDowell, David O’Sullivan, Luke Fitzgibbon and Clodagh Flood narrowly missing out on A final places.
Mary Kate finshed 3rd in her 400m freestyle heat and made it through to the B final. Brian O’Sullivan achieved a personal best and also made it through to the B final in the 100m freestyle.
Luke Fitzgibbon finished 9th just missing out on a place in the 200m backstroke A final . All three swimmers are strong candidates for their respective B final.
Clodagh Flood finished 16th iin the 100m fly.
