About
Team Ireland competed at the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games with a delegation of 16 athletes representing nine sports.
The Irish team produced several outstanding performances and returned home with three medals. Swimmer Niamh Coyne won a silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke, while Dearbhla Rooney secured bronze in featherweight boxing and Sean McCarthy Crean claimed bronze in the Karate Kumite +68kg category.
These achievements contributed to one of Ireland's most successful Youth Olympic campaigns. The team featured a number of athletes who would later progress to senior international competition, including gymnast Emma Slevin, badminton player Nhat Nguyen, boxer Dean Clancy, golfer Lauren Walsh, diver Tanya Watson, and swimmer Mona McSharry.
