21st Jan 2023 – 28th Jan 2023
About
The 16th Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) was held in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, from 21-28 January 2023. Team Ireland sent a small alpine skiing team to the Winter EYOF 2023 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, continuing Ireland's presence at Europe's premier winter youth multi-sport competition. Competing on the slopes around Tarvisio, the Irish athletes gained valuable experience against many of the continent's leading young winter sports competitors.
The Irish team consisted of Ethan Bouchard and Eábha McKenna, both competing in alpine skiing disciplines including Giant Slalom and Super-G. McKenna produced a personal best performance in the Giant Slalom, while Bouchard showed aggressive racing in the boys' competitions before suffering a late crash in one event. Both athletes completed their EYOF campaigns in the Super-G competitions.
