Sycerika qualified in some style, swimming 4:20.86, just over two tenths outside her pb, making her the fastest qualifier for the final which takes place at 3pm irish time
There was more good news for Sycerika in the 200m breaststroke where she also qualified for this afternoon’s final, swimming 2:38.19, also just outside her personal best (pb)
Meanwhile Nicholas Quinn (Co Mayo) knocked seven tenths of his pb in the boys’ 200m individual medley, swimming 2:13.91
He finished 17th fastest overall and will be first reserve for this afternoon’s ‘b’ final
Also in action in the pool this morning was Jordan Sloan (Co Antrim). Swimming in the boys’ 100m freestyle, he broke 54 seconds for the first time in his career, recording a time of 53.95
