Greenan 21st in Modern Pentahlon debut

Much of the improvement has come in the swimming and combined event (shoot and run) were her technical skills have been improved by coach Lyndsey Weedon ( a former World Cup Pentathlon athlete).

Greenan was delighted to win a place in the event for her country and put modern pentathlon on the Olympic pathway in Ireland. She said ” it was very humid out there this afternoon , i was up against some of the best athletes in my age group from around the world and i will benefit from the experience. Its been a brilliant games alround, thanks to Emily and the Olympic Council support team”

Weedon said ,” Modern Pentathlon has a promising future in Ireland , we have made alot of progress over the past few years with athletes now on the world cup circuit gaining experience and working on qualification for London. London is out of reach for Emily, but she can use the Youth Olympic Games as a motivation, a platform for future success”
