Churandy Martina from the Netherlands Antilles was first in a time of 20.11.
Zimbabwe’s Brian Dzingai was second in 20.17, and pre-race favourite Walter Dix of the USA was third in 20.19.
Britain’s Christian Malcolm took the final qualifying place, finishing in 20.25 .
Hession ran his quarter-final in 20.32, while his personal best is 20.30, so he would have needed his best ever performance to progress.
Whilst he will be dissapointed, Hession should be very proud of the fact that he ran so consistently well at the 2008 Games, its a tribute to himself and Coach Stuart Hogg.
