Hession lights up Santry

Sprinter Paul Hession made the London 2012 qualification standard at the Senior Track and Field Championships in Dublin.

The Irish 200m record holder won today’s event at the Morton Stadium, Santry in a time of 20.51.

Hession said afterwards: “To get the Olympic qualifiying time just before the World Championships sets me up really well. It is a late season this year.

“It is very rewarding. The older you get, the tougher it is to justify the sacrifices. Hopefully today is an indication they are justified.”

Hession and his coach Stuart Hogg have been working on getting faster as the season progresses and at major championships running stronger as the rounds progress. A good example of staying positive, self belief, meticulous planning and making the most of athletic talent. Hession and Hogg continue to be good role models for their sport.

Athletes , along with Hession, who have made London 2012 standards to date are:Rob Heffernan, Olive Loughnane, Derval O’Rourke, Alistair Cragg , Fionnuala Britton, Stephanie Reilly and Ciarán Ó Lionáird.
