Patrick Hickey is to serve a second four-year term on the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee, it was announced at the 129th IOC Session.
Mr Hickey has served on a number of IOC commissions over the past 20 years, having been a member of the the Executive Board since 2012. The Dubliner will resume his seat a representative of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC)
Two new IOC vice-presidents and seven new members were also elected ahead of the Olympic Games Rio 2016.
Speaking after the announcement Mr Hickey said he was looking forward to serving another term:
“I’m thrilled to be re-elected for another four years, representing the 206 National Olympic Committees around the world,” he said.
“My continuation on the executive board is great for my position of European Olympic Committees. It’s an interesting time we’re going through so I’m really looking forward to it.”
