Irish athletes delivered standout performances across multiple sports this week, with personal bests, podium finishes and major milestones on the international stage.
Sailing
A superb week in Croatia saw Eve McMahon win U23 gold and finish fourth overall at the ILCA European Championships.
In the men’s fleet, Finn Lynch delivered another consistent championship performance, finishing fifth overall after a weather‑disrupted regatta.

Athletics
It was an exceptional weekend for Sharlene Mawdsley, who produced two personal bests at the IFAM Outdoor Meet in Brussels, a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event.
- She clocked 23.09 PB in the 200m, before returning to win the 400m in a superb 50.17 PB.
- Her 400m time places her 10th in the world this season and 2nd fastest in Europe in 2026.

In Switzerland, Anna McCauley made a breakthrough performance at the Mehrkampf Meeting, becoming only the second Irish woman ever to break the 6000‑point barrier in the heptathlon, scoring 6069 points.
There was also team success in Italy, where Ireland claimed silver at the European 10,000m Cup in La Spezia.
- The women’s team posted a combined 1:38:16.07, with strong A‑Final performances from Niamh Allen (5th), Fiona Everard (9th) and Sorcha Nic Dhomhnaill (20th).
Cycling
There was home success at the Rás Tailteann, where Irish rider Conn McDunphy claimed the coveted yellow jersey, securing overall victory after a strong week on the roads.
