Ireland’s Ian O’Sullivan World Junior Shooting Champion

18 year old Ian O’Sullivan becomes Ireland’s first Olympic Clay Target World Champion winning the Olympic Trap men junior event in spectacular fashion at the ISSF World Championships in Granada Spain. Ian finished the semi final in joint first place with a score of 13 ex 15 with Australia’s Jack Wallace. Ian took an early lead in the gold medal match and despite an equipment failure in his past five shots that cost him two targets he held his nerve to finish in the gold medal position.

On hand to witness Ian’s spectacular performance was Team Ireland’s Rio Chef de Mission Kevin Kilty. Kevin spoke highly of Ian’s performance. “This is a tremendous day for Irish Olympic shooting and a fantastic achievement by a dedicated and determined young athlete who I believe has the brightest of futures ahead for him.”
