Commenting on the win Stephen Martin, OCI Chief Executive said that “having won one major , he has followed up with two more in quick succession. He has provided an inspiration to all our athletes here in Beijing. Hopefully if our athletes get into a position to challenge for semis or finals they will have the self belief required to grasp any opportunities that come their way. Padriagh has show that once you get over the line once , it can give you the confidence to go on and win again”
Some of the athletes met Padraigh in Ireland following his success in the British Open to gain some insight into his success at the Open and discussed in particular how he coped with the pressure in the playoff with Garcia.
