Irish Results Day 9

It was another long day on the water for the remaining Irish sailors with just one race completed in both the Star and Laser Radial classes.   Bangor’s Stephen Milne and Peter O’Leary from Cork placed 10th in Race 4 in the Star and lie 11th overall.  They are just 1 point outside the top ten boats and just 14 points off the leaders, Poland’s Mateusz Kusznierewicz & Dominik Zycki. With just four races completed the option of discarding their lowest results (12th) does not yet come into play. Despite three top ten places O’Leary & Milne are just outside the top ten in 11th place. Once again the small sailed Laser Radial failed to complete more than one race before conditions turned against them. Ciara Peelo placed 24th in Race 6, which she now discards as her lowest result.  Peelo is 19th overall and 22 points behind the Swiss boat in 10th place however she will need all four remaining races to help her climb the fleet.

Denis Lynch riding Lantinus jumped a clear round with just one time penalty in the second qualifier for the individual show jumping in Hong Kong. He now lies in a tie for fourth place with two faults and moves on to the next stage. “He is a fantastic water jumper. I don’t have to worry about him. We’re trying to get into the final and do as well as we can.”
