Martyn Irvine finished up a very solid season with tenth place in the Omnium event at the Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands on Saturday.
The result came one day after team-mate Caroline Ryan was ninth in the Women’s Individual Pursuit, performances that have impressed coach Andy Sparks.
The Omnium competition was won by Australian rider Michael Freiberg, who won the Scratch race and placed highly in the other races. He beat Shane Archbold (New Zealand) and Gijs Van Hoecke (Belgium) for gold.
Irvine’s best events were Friday’s Flying Lap race, where he was seventh, as well as seventh in Saturday’s Individual Pursuit and eighth in the One Kilometre Time-Trial.
