Team Ireland’s Brendan Irvine has beaten Ukraine’s Dmytro Zamotayev to book a spot against Russia’s Bator Sagaluev in the Baku 2015 light flyweight final.
Belfast’s Irvine lost the opening round against Zamotayev, but fought back to secure the win and a place in Thursday’s final on a unanimous 3-0 decision.
The first round went the way of the Ukraine fighter but Irvine fought back well to sway the opening round on 2-1 decision.
Irvine produced a strong second round and landed an uppercut and several lefts to win it 3-0.
In the final round, once more Irvine came forward and dominated the ring, landing a succession of right-lefts and uppercuts, to secure the victory 3-0 in the round, and 3-0 overall, to book his spot in the decider.
