Kearney receives Bye in Judo Draw

LISA KEARNEY has been drawn against Shugen Wu of China (ranked 9th in the world) when she opens her Olympic judo campaign in London Saturday morning 28th July 9.30am local time. The draw was kind to Kearney (ranked 19th in the world) who had expected to face one of the 48kg divisions’ seeded fighters in her preliminary bout. Instead she received a bye into the last 16. A win for Lisa could see her meet either the world number 3 Sarah Menezes of Brazil or world number 12 Laetitia Payet of France in the next round.
