Last Saturday, Germany-based Lynch (32) appeared in Lausanne, Switzerland before the three-man tribunal which expects to issue its decision by the end of the month.
Lynch was suspended when a sample taken from his mount was found to contain the banned substance capsaicin. The supplementary B sample test also tested positive.
Lynch, who had a genuine chance of a gold medal before being disqualified from the final in Hong Kong, said he used a product which contained capsaicin on Lantinus to loosen the horse’s back muscles.
He said he had been using the substance for years. It has always been a banned substance but the technique to discover its use has only recently been developed.
Horse Sport Ireland said it was informed by the governing body that Lynch would not be allowed to compete in international events until a final decision is issued by FEI, expected by September 30th.
“Horse Sport Ireland was today informed by the world governing body, the FEI, that show jumper Denis Lynch will remain under provisional suspension from international competition until the final decision on the medication case involving his horse Lantinus is issued by the FEI Tribunal,” a Horse Sport Ireland spokesman said.
Lantinus was one of four horses ejected from the individual showjumping competition after testing positive for the banned substance capsaicin.
