Magee kicks off World Championships

Team Ireland will be full of confidence following recent success at the Brazil Grand Prix event but they have a number of difficult draws ahead of them in this prestigious event.

Chloe Magee kicks the 2015 World Championships today Monday with a tough opening round against former world top 10, Yip Pui Yin of Hong Kong (China).

In the men singles Scott Evans was all set to face world number 14 Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand. Ponsana who is seeded 12 at this event has withdrawn giving Evans a walkover to the 2nd round where he faces the winner of Daniel Paiola of Brazil or David Obernosterer of Austria.

Chloe will also compete in the mixed doubles with her brother Sam. The Irish number ones will face Hung Ling Chen and Wen Hsing Cheng of Chinese Taipei. The mixed pair are ranked 35 in the world and are climbing fast.
