Irish Judo’s first invite to the IJF World Masters
Lisa Kearney will compete for Ireland in the IJF’s 2012 Elite Event. The IJF World Masters is exclusively for the Top 16 Judoka in the World in each category. The invitation event is in its third year and this year will be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the same venue where Lisa picked up a Bronze medal at the 2011 World Cup. Lisa was a reserve for the event and only received her invitation on Sunday night, less than 2 weeks before the prestigious tournament starts.
Speaking with Ciaran Ward – the National Coach for the Irish Judo Association and Lisa Kearney, he said “Lisa had worked tremendously hard in 2011 to achieve her world ranking and both will look forward to this event next week where further Olympic Qualifying points are on offer”
