Heading for the Palace of Monaco this weekend for the wedding of Prince Albert to South African Olympic sports star Charlene Wittstock is Pat Hickey, OCI President and his wife Sylviane.
The Hickeys are personal friends of Prince Albert and will be joining the newly-weds in Durban, South Africa next week for meetings of the International Olympic Committee.
Prince Albert is a colleague of Pat’s on the International Olympic Committee. The Prince is very proud of his Irish heritage (Princess Grace) and has visited Ireland several times including Olympic occasions. The Prince also has his own Irish bar in his Palace – used especially on St. Patrick’s Day.
Pat and Sylviane will be presenting the Royal couple with a specially designed Newbridge Silverware gift to mark the happy occasion on behalf of the Olympic Movement in Ireland.
