Morrissey started off slowly losing his first service game and was behind until a rain delay allowed him to regroup. Coach Owen Casey had time to make a few adjustments to Morrissey’s serve and he went on to win the first set 7-5. He kept the momentum going and ran out 6-1 in the second set.
So Morrissey has come through a tough first round match in searing heat at the Singapore Tennis Centre and awaits to see who he will play in the last 16.
Morrissey said, ” i’m delighted to win, i thought i played well today, and i’m looking forward to the next round”
Casey added, ” the rain delay helped John, he made some adjustments, and i’m pleased he kept an intensity in his game to finish his opponent off”
