Nanjing 2014-Young Reporters Programme

The International Olympic Committee’s Young Reporter Program for the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games is a sports journalism training program that will run from August 13th – 28th, 2014, in conjunction with the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.

The Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) will select two candidates and forward to the European Olympic Committee (EOC). All interested candidates should send their application to the OCI by September 30th, 2013.

The two successful Irish candidates being put forward to EOC will be notified via email by October 21st, 2013, and the candidates including their résumés, appropriate work samples and letter of recommendation  will be forwarded to the EOC.

EOC will then select four nominees, two male and two female, to represent Europe at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games, with a limit of one young reporter per NOC. From there, the IOC will conduct online interviews with all candidates and notify all successful young reporters by December 16th, 2013.

All young reporters will be accredited as “E” media and will stay together in the Youth Olympic Village with the competing athletes. The IOC will cover the cost of airfare, accommodation, meals and full tuition in the program.

Participants are required to be between 18-24 years of age (as of August 28th, 2014) and either university students engaged in journalism studies or young professionals already working fulltime in the news media.
