About

The Banska 2022 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) brought together more than 2,250 young athletes from 48 European nations across 10 sports.

Originally scheduled for 2021, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Team Ireland sent 33 athletes across seven sports and enjoyed a highly successful week, highlighted by Sean Cronin’s bronze medal in the boys’ 1500m. Ireland recorded numerous standout performances, particularly in athletics, where the team achieved 11 top-ten finishes including Nicole Dinan (4th, girls’ 800m), Clodagh Gill (4th, girls’ 3000m) and Cormac Dixon (4th, boys’ 3000m).

Jesse Osas, Toby Thompson, Cian Crampton and the boys’ medley relay team also secured top-eight finishes. Strong performances extended beyond athletics. Cycling produced four top-ten finishes, including 5th place for Seth Dunwoody in the boys’ time trial, while athletes in badminton, gymnastics, swimming, judo and tennis gained valuable international experience.
