Esbjerg 1999
10th Jul 1999 – 16th Jul 1999
About
Team Ireland competed at the 1999 European Youth Olympic Days in Esbjerg, Denmark, continuing its involvement in Europe's premier multi-sport event for young athletes. The Esbjerg Games featured an expanded programme of 11 sports, including the introduction of badminton.
Ireland was among the 48 participating nations and contributed athletes across a range of disciplines. While podium finishes proved elusive, the event remained an important part of Team Ireland's long-term athlete development pathway. Ireland's next major EYOF success would come at Murcia 2001, where the Irish men's football team secured gold, highlighting how the experience gained at events such as Esbjerg contributed to future achievements.
